So why should you never use Sermorelin? Well... there are many reasons why bodybuilders and athletes cannot touch this peptide, but we'll come to that later. Let me start by saying that Sermorelin is known to us by the name of GRF (1-29). We touched on this in my last article when we discussed CJC 1295 and how CJC 1295 without DAC is really a modified version of GRF (1-29), aptly named MOD GRF (1-29). The original GRF (1-29) is actually the root of the HGH molecule, and the remaining peptide containing the first 29 amino acids is actually what is responsible for stimulating the pituitary gland. The name Sermorelin is the name of the prescription drug and that alone is why it is so widely prescribed by hormone replacement therapy clinics (HRT).
Although we have not heard much about Sermorelin in bodybuilding circles, it does not mean that this peptide is not used. In fact, anti-aging and hormone replacement clinics have been prescribing it for years because it works as a clean GHRH. The problem for the bodybuilder or athlete is that it has a very short half life of about ten (10) minutes. This is an unattractive feature compared to the half-life of MOD GRF (1-29) (CJC 1295 without DAC), which can be reached in about 30 minutes. Despite its short window, it binds very effectively to the pituitary receptors. The other major downside associated with its very short half-life is that it is rapidly reduced by blood enzymes within minutes. For this reason, a GHRH peptide with a half-life of 30 minutes or longer is desirable because it will survive blood enzyme death, allowing it to circulate throughout the body in search of hormone receptors to bind to them.
So, why should bodybuilders or athletes use Sermorelin over other peptides that have longer half lives like MOD GRF (1-29) or CJC 1295 with DAC? To put it simply, you could easily incorporate this into a multi-dosing protocol along with your other long-acting GHRH and GHRP. Let's consider the known positive effects of Sermorelin such as: increased muscle mass, reduced fat, increased strength, improved recovery, better sleep, strengthening of the heart, improvement of the immune system and increased IGF-1 production. Yes, while the ability of Sermorelin to work is short, it still promotes all of these factors mentioned above. Not to mention, it also has the ability to increase protein synthesis, promote the growth of all inner organs except the brain and promote and increase liver gluconeogenesis. Despite the low half-life, Sermorelin's ability to increase IGF-1 in the bloodstream will only increase the function of metabolism and the growth of new cells in muscles, bones and organs. Sermorelin is heavily pushed by HRT clinics and is often referred to as the anti-aging peptide because it is very good to reverse some of the effects of aging in adults. The fact that doctors are legally prescribing this peptide further helps HRT clinics with their legitimacy and also offers a viable and less costly solution for prescribing exogenous HGH.
Sermorelin, along with the other peptides that you will use, occurs as a sensitive lyophilized powder which should be kept out of the light and in a cool dry place. Reconstitution is with bacteriostatic water (BC water) or sodium chloride for injection. Injections may be administered one hour before training at a dose of 200 mcg-300 mcg. Normally, Sermorelin injections are taken before bedtime at about 300 mcg. Of course, as with any GHRH, you will want to use this peptide alongside a GHRP such as GHRP-2 or IPamorelin for maximum release of growth hormone stocks. Ideally, though, users could still benefit with a GHRH like CJC 1295 with DAC and a GHRP like IPamorelin all day and then use Sermorelin as a pre-bedtime dose. Do not consider Sermorelin as simply an anti-aging peptide. It can still contribute to the growth of lean body mass and increase the availability of IGF-1 in the bloodstream.
While athletes and bodybuilders are not crazy about Sermorelin on the forum, there is no doubt that it has its place in the community as an anti-aging agent, and perhaps another tool for use in your current peptide protocol. The fact that it has been legitimized within the HRT community and is available via prescription also means that the effects attributed to this peptide have been well researched, studied and tested.
